SPACE – Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions

SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) is a parent-based treatment program developed at the YALE Child Study Center, designed to treat child and adolescent anxiety. Unlike most anxiety treatments,  the SPACE therapist meets only with the parents, and provides the tools needed to support their anxious child at home.  The SPACE treatment works by helping parents slowly eliminate the accommodations anxious children require, and by increasing specific parental support. SPACE has been found to effectively treat generalized anxiety, OCD, social anxiety, separation anxiety, and phobias.
